Vaporesso Xros 4 Mini Review: Is It Really An Upgrade?

Vaporesso Xros 4 Mini Review: Is It Really An Upgrade?

Vaporesso’s pod kits have always been our go-to recommendation, particularly the Xros 3 Mini, due to its user-friendly design and reliability. Recently, they’ve launched the Xros 4 Mini, and we’re putting it to the test to see if it lives up to its predecessor.

While it’s natural to assume that the latest model is automatically better, as is often thought with tech upgrades like smartphones, that’s not always the case. Sometimes, more features don’t necessarily mean a better vaping experience…

Vaporesso Xros 4 Mini: Key Features and Specs

Compact and lightweight, the Xros 4 Mini weighs in at just 48g, with dimensions of 10.5cm in height and 2cm in width. It packs a 1000mAh battery, providing enough power for all-day vaping and up to 16W of output. A standout addition to this model is the adjustable airflow on the side, allowing users to switch between mouth-to-lung (MTL) and restricted direct-to-lung (RDTL) vaping—something the Xros 3 Mini lacked.

Charging is via a Type-C port, with the kit reaching full battery in just 30 minutes. The device is button-free, using an auto-draw system for seamless vaping.

The Xros 4 Mini is compatible with Vaporesso’s new Corex 2.0 pods, which boast improved heating distribution for enhanced flavor. The pods also feature a special cotton blend designed to retain e-liquid more efficiently, extending the lifespan of the coil. While Vaporesso claims up to 50% longer coil life, I found it added a couple of extra days of use compared to the original Xros pods.

Available Pod Resistances for the Xros 4 Mini:

  • 0.4Ω (Corex 2.0 Pods)
  • 0.6Ω (Corex 2.0 & Standard Xros Pods)

What’s in the Xros 4 Mini Box?

Inside the box, you’ll find the Xros 4 Mini battery with a pre-installed 0.4Ω Corex pod, a user manual, a Type-C charging cable, a pod compatibility guide, and instructions for filling the e-liquid. Thankfully, Vaporesso includes a charging cable, unlike many brands that have started omitting this essential component.

Design, Build Quality, and Battery Life

Design
While the Xros 4 Mini resembles the Xros 3 Mini, there are some noticeable differences. The Xros 4 Mini is slightly longer, and its pods are taller, yet it remains compact and portable. However, unlike some kits with side charging ports, the Xros 4 Mini’s charging port is located on the bottom—a minor inconvenience for some users. The device also features an airflow adjustment slider on the back, perfect for switching between MTL and RDTL vaping styles.

Another improvement with the Xros 4 Mini is its larger e-liquid viewing window, making it easier to monitor liquid levels without removing the pod.

Build Quality
Constructed from a sturdy aluminum alloy, the Xros 4 Mini is durable and perfect for those prone to accidental drops. The pod, made from PCTG plastic, is both robust and temperature-resistant. The pod connection is secure, held in place by strong magnets, so you won’t have to worry about it dislodging easily.

The airflow slider also feels well-built, with enough resistance to prevent it from accidentally shifting in your pocket or bag.

Battery Life
Equipped with a 1000mAh battery, the Xros 4 Mini offers a full day of vaping on a single charge. The Type-C charger allows for a quick recharge in just 30 minutes, which is perfect for those on the go. The device also includes a handy battery life indicator with three color-coded levels: green (70-100%), blue (30-70%), and red (0-30%).

Flavour Performance

The 0.4Ω Corex pod that comes with the Xros 4 Mini delivers exceptional flavor, especially for those who prefer rich, full-bodied hits. While the improvement over the original Xros pods isn’t drastic, the Corex 2.0 pods provide a slightly more rounded flavor profile. I paired the pod with 10mg Bar Juice 5000 in pineapple ice, which offered a surprisingly smooth throat hit for a low-resistance pod.

Vaporesso has always excelled in flavor production, and the Xros 4 Mini continues this legacy. If you’re chasing disposable vape-like flavors, pairing this kit with high-quality e-liquids such as Elfliq or Bar Juice 5000 will ensure a flavor-packed experience.

Pod Lifespan: How Long Do Corex Pods Last?

The lifespan of your pod depends on your vaping habits. For example, frequent, long drags using 0.4Ω or 0.6Ω coils with high VG liquids will likely reduce coil life to around a week. However, with smaller, more frequent drags and higher resistance coils (like 1.0Ω), you can expect to extend the pod’s lifespan.

In my experience, I managed just under two weeks with the new Corex pods, a noticeable improvement from the original Xros pods, which typically lasted me around eight days.

Who Is the Xros 4 Mini For?

The Xros 4 Mini is versatile and suitable for a wide range of users. Whether you’re transitioning from disposables and seeking a more cost-effective solution, or you’re a long-time vaper looking for a reliable kit that doesn’t leak, this device has you covered. Pair it with a 1.0Ω pod for a cigarette-like throat hit, or opt for the 0.4Ω pod for a richer flavor experience.

However, if you’re after a cloud-chasing experience with high VG liquids, you may want to consider a more advanced kit with adjustable wattage.

How to Set Up and Fill the Xros 4 Mini:

  1. Remove the kit from the box and peel off the plastic wrap.
  2. Take out the pod and remove the plastic tab covering the magnetic connectors.
  3. Reinsert the pod, slide the mouthpiece away from you to reveal the red fill port, and fill with e-liquid, leaving a small gap at the top.
  4. Let the coil soak for 15-20 minutes before vaping.

Xros 4 Mini vs. Xros 3 Mini: What’s Different?

The primary difference lies in the airflow. The Xros 3 Mini has fixed airflow, whereas the Xros 4 Mini allows for customization. While this added control is nice, the Xros 3 Mini’s airflow worked well with various coils, so this isn’t a massive upgrade unless you prefer tweaking your airflow settings.

The improved pods in the Xros 4 Mini are perhaps the most significant change. These pods last longer and offer full visibility of your e-liquid levels, preventing dry hits and coil burn.

Pros:

  • Outstanding flavor
  • Long-lasting battery life
  • Easy-to-view e-liquid levels
  • Adjustable airflow
  • Compatible with both old and new Xros pods

Cons:

  • Honestly, none that I can think of! Vaporesso nailed it with this kit.

Final Thoughts:

Initially, I was skeptical about switching from the Xros 3 Mini, which had served me well for so long. But after thoroughly testing the Xros 4 Mini, I’m happy to say I’m a convert. It offers incredible flavor, great battery life, fast charging, and the convenience of seeing your e-liquid levels at a glance.

If you prefer the higher resistance of the older Xros pods, you may not feel the need to upgrade, but for those looking for a fresh look and some added features, the Xros 4 Mini is a fantastic choice.
